A Broken Shell
He kept himself hidden
Afraid of the world
He was nervous at every attention
He got from a girl
He thought himself ugly
Which negated his worth
His personality meant nothing
His appearance a curse
But suddenly the world
Began to take a new turn
Things began happening
Which caused him to learn
Suddenly there were women
Who worked on his heart
They came without his asking
And weren't eager to part
He felt a feeling grow
It pounded in his chest
Perhaps he was worthy
On level with the rest
A strange new world
Seemed to be growing
And he would take it all in
Intent to keep going
He discovered many things
Such wonderful delight
Wonders he'd never seen
In his dreams at night
He felt his life was shifting
Remaking him anew
The cocoon he'd built was broken
His inner self come through
