Gain On Losses
He found himself enthralled
The moment they met
Just a glance of her beauty
And his heart on fire was set
Any sight of this woman
Even just a glance
Of her incredible beauty
Put him in a trance
So he wrote her a sweet poem
Designed to ask her out
His point would get crossed
He hadn't a doubt
He worked up his courage
What little there was
And he gave her the poem
Then asked what her answer was
She smiled that smile
That could met the coldest of hearts
But the smile quickly faded
As something she had to impart
Her heart was another's
Not hers to give away
He should have been crushed
But somehow his mood did not sway
He actually felt a joy
Growing inside
He'd found a new courage
He'd left nothing to hide
Though the girl could not be his
The memory always would
He'd accomplished a task
That he never thought he could
He'd made his feelings known
Despite the great cost
But he gained so much more
Than he'd actually lost
